ISLAMABAD: Australian all-rounder Shane watson excited to be part of PSL franchise Islamabad United and wants to renew his professional rivalry with Pakistani fast bowler wahab Riaz.
Talking to Khaleej Times, he said that the coaches and support staff have done a great job to get such a quality team.
He said that it would be great for him to play along side Misbah-ul Haq, Saeed Ajmal and Mohmmad Sami rather than playing against them.
To a question, he said that his tussle with Wahab Riaz during the World is still fresh in his mind and he is ready to face Pakistan fast bowler, who will represent Peshawar Zalmi.
“It is going to be good fun and obviously it brings back incredible memories of 2015 World Cup when he was bowling very fast and very consistently in and around my head. He is a very skilled fast bowler and very challenging,” Watson said.
Almost all the teams in the PSL have hired foreign coaching staff and Watson is pretty excited about Dean Jones coaching Islamabad United.
“Dean is one of my childhood heroes. He certainly knows the game incredibly well. So I had learned in bits and pieces from him throughout my career and now I have got an opportunity to work with him more closely,” he enthused
“I am also very excited about Pakistani legend Wasim Akram. I have played against him a little bit at the start of my career in ODIs and has always loved his skills and so to be able to work closely with him is going to be very exciting.”
When asked about playing in Pakistan, Watson said: “I had really good time while playing for Australia A against Pakistan in 2005. However security is the most important thing and we have to wait for that.
