UN looks towards Pakistan to defuse Saudi-Iran tension

ISLAMABAD: Secretary General United Nations Ban Ki-moon telephoned Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and asked him to use his good offices to find a solution of the prevailing tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

The UN General Secretary said the prime minister enjoys good relations with both the countries and can play a vital and pivotal role in this regard.

He emphasized that the prime minister can resolve the issue.

The Prime Minister briefed the Secretary General about his visits to Iran and Saudi Arabia.
