Sulmen topples Mansoor to annex National Junior U19 Squash title

KARACHI: Second seed Suleman Saleem came from behind to topple top seed Mansoor Zaman 3-2 and annexed the boys Under-19 crown of the 5th Rehana Nazar National Junior Squash Championship in contrasting fashions at Rashidabad (Hyderabad) on Tuesday.

Favorites Mansoor made a superb start as losing the opening game he grabbed the next two games to secure 2-1 lead. However afterwards Suleman played brilliant nicks, drops and forceful winners to snatch the last two games to seal the title after intense 55-minute competition.

On the other hand, girls U19 final turned out be one sided affair as number one seed Madina Zafar defeated in second seed Noor ul Huda in straight games in just 19 minutes.

A handsome prize money was distributed among the winners of different categories. The boys U19 winner Suleman Saleem got Rs.11,400 and runner-up picked up Rs.7800.

The Girls U19 winner Madina Zafar collected Rs.9500 and Noorul Huda got Rs.6500 Qais Mazhar Hussain was the Chief Guest at presentation ceremony.

Air Commodore Nayyar (Retd) Khuwaja Principal SST, Organizing Committee Chairman Air Commodore (Retd) Shabbir Ahmed, Co-Chairman Iqbal Samad, Tournament Director & SVP Sindh Squash Association Tahir Khanzada were present on the occasion.
