Sharmila Tagore stopped from leaving for India

WAGAH: Popular Indian actress Sharmila Tagore was stopped at Wagah border because of incomplete police report. As soon as the report would be completed, she would be given permission to leave for India.

Tagore came here to attend the Lahore Literature Festival and meet with other literary people. Sessions titled ‘Writing of Exile and the Exile of Writing’, ‘Preserving National Heritage in Stressed Societies’, ‘Anwar Jalal Shemza: Between Home and Diaspora’, ‘Zubaan aur Shanakht’ (language and identity), and ‘Gabriel Garcia Marquez: Fun aur Shakhsiyat’ were attended by her during her visit.

The literature festival had come under controversial remarks when Indian Actor Anupum Kher didn’t attended the Karachi Literature Festival due to alleged non provision of visa by pakistani government.

Pakistan Embassy denied the claims and said that the actor didn’t applied for the visa in the first place.
