Shah Rukh Khan’s car comes ‘under attack’ in Ahmedabad

WEB DESK:Bollywood mega star Shah Rukh Khan’s car was attacked by right wing protestors in Ahmedabad city of Gujarat early on Sunday morning.

Shouting slogans of “Jai Shri Ram” and “Shah Rukh Khan Haye Haye” the protestors threw stones on the star’s car at the parking lot of a luxury hotel Hyatt Regency on Ashram Road.

“Unknown persons pelted stones at Shah Rukh Khan’s car in Ahmedabad in early morning hours,” India’s news wire service, Asian News International, said on Twitter.

However, the actor was not present in his car at the time of the attack, ANI added.

Shah Rukh is currently busy shooting for his upcoming release Raees, part of which was shot in Mumbai while the rest is being shot in the state of Gujarat. The film’s crew members are staying in the hotel where the attack took place.

The attack was reportedly against the shooting of his upcoming film over his earlier remarks on “intolerance”, NDTV reported.

In November last year, Mr Khan sparked a debate when he said during an interview that there was “growing intolerance” in India.

After an FIR for rioting and damaging property was filed in this regard in the evening, at least seven persons, claimed to be associated with the right-wing organisation Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), were detained, police said.

Khan has maintained silence on social media and otherwise, over the incident so far.

Meanwhile, a video showing unidentified persons throwing stones inside the hotel also surfaced on social media platforms.

In the video, stones have been pelted on the vehicle by people who were chanting slogans like Jai Sri Ram and Shah Rukh Khan Hai Hai!

From the Indian media reports, it emerges that no one was hurt in the incident.
