Quetta Gladiators pick up the glory against Zalmi

WEB DESK: Quetta Gladiators remain unbeaten in Pakistan Super League (PSL) after beating Peshawar Zalmi by three wickets in a second thriller of the day on Sunday at Dubai Stadium.

Muhammed Nawaz’s superb bowling performance helped Gladiators pick up the glory, plus tail-enders brought back the nail-biting match for the Gladiators.

“I am trying my level best to perform well with good line and length and acumen decisions for different timely variations,” Nawaz said while receiving man-of-the-match award.

Nawaz took three key wickets of Zalmi — Tamim Iqbal (14), Muhammed Hafeez (10) and Shahid Yousuf (21).

Darren Sammy had put Peshawar Zalmi in command by helping his team accumulate good enough 135 runs for 7 wickets against Quetta Gladiators, however their dream to overcome Gladiators could not become true.

Darren’s quickfire 48 runs off 31 balls with the help of one 4 and four 6s apparently seemed troubling for Quetta Gladiators as it came out from Gladiators Skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed’s perplexed face while leaving for dressing room after the first inning.

Both the teams had yet been unbeaten throughout the League, however one had to fall in this match and it came out bad day for Zalmi.

Shahid Afridi took Kevin Pietersen’s catch (35) off Junaid Khan’s ball. Afridi broke the stand of 38 runs between Sarfaraz Ahmed and Kevin Pietersen after the former skied the ball into Malan’s hands. He got Luke Wright’s (16) scalp. However, very unfortunate batting was seen from the Zalmi skipper (0). He was gone back to pavilion flying the second ball into hands of the fielder near boundary off Umer Gull’s bowl.

Quetta Gladiator needed 136 runs in 20 overs which they achieved in the last over.
