Professor Iftikhar Hussain made vice chancellor UET Peshawar


PESHAWAR: Professor Dr Iftikhar Hussain has been appointed as Vice Chancellor University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Peshawar. According to a notification of Higher Education Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Governor has appointed Professor Dr Iftikhar Hussain, Department of Industrial Engineering UET Peshawar as Acting Vice Chancellor with immediate effect, till further orders.

It is pertinent to mention here that Professor Dr Iftikhar Hussain prior to his appointment as VC has worked as Chairman Department of Industrial Engineering, UET Peshawar for 10 years. Professor Dr Iftikhar Hussain did his PhD in 1998 from Bradford University, UK. He had also worked as Professor in Bradford University, UK and King Saud University, Saudi Arabia where he conducted at least four international projects. It is also to mention here that he has over 60 Research Publications. Professor Dr Iftikhar Hussain has also been awarded with Best Teacher Award by Higher Education Commission and Best Research Award by Ford Car Manufacturing Company, UK.

With expertise in Manufacturing Systems, Expert Systems and Operations he started Industrial Engineering Department in 2006 at UET Peshawar. He also introduced MS and PhD in his department in 2010 and has been supervisor of over 10 MS and PhD scholars. Professor Dr Iftikhar Hussain is also Convenor of HEC Curriculum Committee for Industrial Engineering and an elected member of Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
