Picture Gallery: Sharmeen bags second Oscar Award

WEB DESK:  Famous Pakistani documentary film maker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy won the 88th Academy Awards in Best Documentary – Short Subject for ‘The Girl in the river’ and made history by becoming the only Pakistani to bag two Oscar awards.

Obaid-Chinoy won the award for best documentary short for “A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness,” a film that shines a light on the still-common practice of “honor killings,” in which men kill their own female family members for dishonoring them, a practice common in Pakistan.
