WEB DESK: Batsman Tamim Iqbal and bowler Mohammed Asghar have led Peshawar Zalmi to victory by 24 runs over Islamabad United on Friday in the third match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) at Dubai Cricket Stadium, Aaj News reported.
It was another bad day for Islamabad United after they lost the first T20 match of PSL at the hands of Quetta Gladiators.
Zalmi’s won the toss and chose to bat first. They set the highest target of the tournament so far of 146.
Tamim Iqbal played an anchor innings for Peshawar Zalmi’s and made 51 runs with the strike rate of 100, while Andrew Russel took 3 wickets for Islamabad United.
Mohammed Asghar proved lethal against Islamabad United with bagging three wickets and getting two terrific consecutive catches off Wahab Riaz balls to show Andrew Russel (12) and Billings (26) the exit as Peshawar Zalmi sensed the victory way before conclusion of the match.
“Anything Pathan lays hand on can never go away,” said Asghar while receiving award for man-of-the-match.
