Pakistan Squash, swimming, table tennis squads leaves for India

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan squash, swimming and table tennis squads left here on Wednesday for India to participate in the 12th South Asian Games (SAG), to be held from February 5 in Guwahati and Shillong.

“The Pakistan squash team is comprised of four male and as many female players,” an official of Pakistan Squash Federation told APP on Wednesday.

Pakistan’s top players Nasir Iqbal, Farhan Zaman, Danish Atlas are part of the male team, while Maria Toor, Muqadas Ashraf, Samar Anjam and Sadia Gul are members of the female team. Fahim Gul and Sattawat Babar are accompanying the team as male and female coaches, respectively.

Similarly, a 20-member swimming squad, including three officials also departed for India to represent the country in the SAG. Pakistan has sent 11 male and six female swimmers for the event.

Meanwhile, Pakistan table tennis squad comprising five male, five female and three officials also flew to India to feature in the SAG.

Around 4500 athletes and sports officials from eight nations – Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka will be participating in the event.
