Pak female boxers to go in SAG for first-time

ISLAMABAD: A three-member team of female Pakistani boxers will be participating in the South Asian Games at India for the first-time.

According to details, the female boxers comprise Khush Zain (51 kg), Ruksana (60 kg) and Sofia (75 kg). The male boxers include Mehib Badshah (49 kg), Syed Asif (52 kg), Nametullah (56 kg), Ali Ahmed (60 kg), Gul Zaib (64 kg), Arshad Hussain (69 kg) and Tanvir (75 kg).

Pakistan boxing team will depart to India on February 10 to participate in the South Asian Games. The training camp of the team is underway here at the Pakistan Sports Complex.

There are a total of 23 players in the camp. These players were shortlisted from the national boxing championship held at Karachi. The coaches imparting training to male players include Arshad Husain, Kamal Shah and Ali Bux.

The coaches training the female boxers comprise Qadir Zaman and Noman Karim. The boxing competition in the Games will be held from February 13 to 16.
