LAHORE: Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique on Monday said that losses of Pakistan Railways were being reduced every year and department was functioning smoothly.
“A loan of Rs6 billion has been retired and out-dated locomotives are being replaced,” he said talking to media persons in Lahore.
The minister said sixteen defective locomotives were halted after accident of Jafar express and these are being examined by Pakistani and Chinese engineers.
He said that procurement process had been made more efficient and contract of poor quality locomotives has been cancelled.
Saad Rafique said there would be no compromise over standard of locomotives while signing contracts with companies.
