MQM’s four-day token hunger strike begins

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) began observing symbolic hunger strike on Friday to protest against media coverage ban on party chief Altaf Hussain’s statements.

Dr Farooq Sattar, Muhammad Hussain and Kaiful Wara were among other prominent officials of MQM who observed token hunger strike outside of Karachi Press Club. MQM’s supporters and officials will continue to join hunger strike camp for three more days.

“Sit-in protest may come next if the unjustifiable ban on coverage of Altaf Hussain is not lifted,” said Farooq Sattar talking to media persons.

Media was barred from covering Altaf Hussain’s statements and speeches around six months ago.

Dr Sattar called for lifting the ban that he claimed was in violation of Article 19 of the Constitution of Pakistan.
