ISLAMABAD: Hurriyet leaders took out a protest rally on Thursday at Rajbagh in Srinagar, Indian Held Kashmir (IHK) against continued arrest and house detention of Hurriyet leaders.
Prior to the protest rally, the Hurriyet leaders held a meeting with Professor Abdul Ghani Butt in chair and strongly denounced the fresh arrest spree, Kashmir Media Service reported.
Professor Abdul Ghani Butt said that durable peace in the region was impossible without settlement of the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people.
On the occasion, a resolution was also unanimously passed by the participants which condemned the human rights violations including arrest and house arrest of Hurriyet leaders and arrest spree of Kashmiri youth besides harassing and torturing the Kashmiri people.
The resolution also urged the world community and the international human rights organizations to use their influence in halting the rights violations in the territory and ask India to settle the Kashmir dispute.
