Hafeez enjoying his role as an opener

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani cricketer Muhammad Hafiz was satisfied with his performance in Pakistan Super League (PSL) and possess his role as an opener batsman in Peshawar Zalmi team.

While talking to Khaleej Times, Hafeez said: “My combination with Tamim was working well as we complement each other quite nicely. Since I am back as opener it has worked wonders for me”.

He said there was still a long way to go in the PSL. One off day can cost you the tournament but I am hopeful the way the team is gelling under Shahid Afridi’s captaincy, we can go a long way in this tournament.

To a question Hafiz said that the PSL is more than cricket for us and the owners are ready to help the people of the region. Most of our fast bowlers are coming from that region.

Cricket’s popularity is growing in the region which is the victim of terrorism. There are plans afoot to build a cricket stadium in North Waziristan, he added.

He said that i am waiting for the day when the PSL matches will be held in Peshawar.

While answering a question about Quetta Gladiators, Hafeez said: “They are one of the top sides in the tournament. They have gelled well and won a lot of matches.

“They have a number of match-winners and can go a long way in the tournament,” he added.
