BAHAWALPUR: Development work of Rubber Dam and Lake at Sutlej River will start from mid of this year.
Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Capt (Retd) Saqib Zafar briefed in a meeting here Wednesday at his office that the project is being constructed in collaboration of federal government and World Bank with a cost of Rs 1.6 billion.
The lake would be 13 kilometers lengthy and will have depth of 2.5 meters and 10,000 acre feet water can be stored in the lake.
World Bank would provide more than Rs. 1 billion for the construction of lake while federal government will acquire the land.
The meeting was briefed that the project will complete in 15 months and no residential, commercial or community structure would be disturbed by the construction.
After completion the lake would provide a recreational opportunity to the people of Bahawalpur besides provision of clean drinking water.
