At around 2am on Monday morning, security forces via loudspeakers ordered residents to stay at home as curfew had been clamped down in the agency to launch an operation against militants. According to the political administration, the measures have been taken after two separate attacks in the agency which left nine Khasadar officials dead.
The curfew will remain imposed from 7am to 7pm. A local teacher of a government-run school said on the condition of anonymity that they had been told by the authorities not to sit in groups within school premises. “We have even been asked to keep a watchful eye on the school’s non-teaching staff,” he added.
Meanwhile, officials of the political administration said that curfew had been imposed to maintain law and order in the area. They said the curfew will remain imposed for an indefinite period of time. The connecting road from Ekkaghund till Mamad Gate also remained closed for all kind of traffic while commuters are advised to use the alternate route from Lower Dir for travelling.
