Business community demands deployment of rangers in KP

PESHAWAR: The business community had demanded the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to depute Rangers in the city for providing security from extortionists, target killers and extremists.

The demand was made through a resolution passed unanimously by trading community of the area during a condolence reference held at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI) in connection with brutal assassination of prominent businessman and leader of business community of Peshawar, Haji Haleem Jan.

It merits to mention here that late Haji Haleem Jan was facing life threats from extortionists for his constant refusal to pay them money.

He was gunned down by a target killer at historic Qissa Khawani bazar on February 9.

Prominent businessmen including Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, Haji Ghulam Ali, President KPCCI, Zulfiqar Ali, Ehtesham Haleem, Faud Ishaq, Sufi Bashir Ahmad, Sharafat Ali Mubarik and others were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, President KPCCI Zulfiqar Ali termed the martyrdom of Haji Haleem Jan as a big loss for trading community of KP in general and Peshawar in particular.

He criticized the KP government in failing to provide safety and protection to business community.

“The murder of Haji Haleem Jan is open testimony of failure of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) government,” alleged President KPCCI.

Zulfiqar Ali lauded the services of Haji Haleem Jan for the cause of business community. Leader Businessmen Forum, Senator Ilyas Bilour expressed deep shock and grief over the murder of Haji Haleem Jan.

He demanded of the KP government to quit and hand over law and order maintenance to Rangers. He also demanded operation clean up against extortionists and target killers.

Expressing condolence with family members of Haji Haleem Jan, Senator said the target killing has become a routine matter in KP.

The government, he continued, has failed to provide protection to business community of the area. The condolence referrence was addressed by a number of businessmen who have also demanded protection from extortionists and kidnappers.

Earlier, Quran Khawani was held and special prayer were offered for rest of soul of late Haji Haleem Jan.
