Blatter ‘disappointed’ at FIFA ruling

Zurich: Sepp Blatter will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in hope of overturning his ban from football after a FIFA appeals panel confirmed he committed ethics violations, his spokesman said Wednesday.

Blatter “is deeply disappointed (in) the FIFA appeal commission and will go further to CAS,” Thomas Renggli, a spokesman for the disgraced FIFA president, said in an email.

The FIFA appeals committee reduced Blatter’s ban from eight years to six, saying the initial December verdict from FIFA’s ethics court failed to consider “mitigating factors” in determining his punishment.
