BISP allocations enhanced to provide more relief to beneficiaries: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday said the government had increased annual allocation for Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) from Rs40 billion to Rs105 billion.

The prime minister said this while giving approval in increase in the annual stipend to BISP beneficiaries.

He said the annual stipend had been enhanced from twelve to eighteen thousand rupees during the last two years, which were now further increased to eighteen thousand eight hundred rupees.

Nawaz Sharif said the government is fully committed to protect the most vulnerable segments of the society.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said stipend at the enhanced rate of Rs4, 700 per beneficiary per quarter would be payable with effect from July 1, last year.
