Bachaana’s story isn’t the same as ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’

ISLAMABAD: The plot of Pakistani film Bachaana may sound a bit similar to Indian blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan but the makers blatantly deny any similarity.

The cast and crew of this Pakistani romantic comedy film is to promote their film. Bachaana is the story of a Pakistani guy who helps an Indian girl separated from her family back to her country, Khaleej Times reported.

Actress Sanam Saeed said, “We shot the film way before Bajrangi Bhaijaan was released. Plus, the story is not same. There is no love story between Salman Khan and the little girl in Bajrangi Bhaijaan.”

“Couple of reports came out which was quite negative. They compared us to Bajrangi Bhaijaan, after which Indian distributors were scared of taking a risk by releasing our film. We wouldn’t want to put anyone in trouble because of our film. But I think there should be a more cultural exchange between the two countries.”

He added, “I think with such a big industry India has, they should give a little space to Pakistani movies. We love Indian movies, so why shouldn’t Pakistani movies release in India?,” he said.

Actor Adeel Hashmi said that Pakistani film industry focuses more on narratives, “Bollywood’s budget and grandeur is very different. We do not have that luxury as yet, thankfully, so we need to focus on the story. Maybe the story sounds similar to Bajrangi Bhaijaan but that’s pretty much it.”

There is much creative cross-border collaboration in the film. Indian music director Prasad Sashte and singer Benny Dayal are part of this film, “There was great synergy while making this film,” said the director.

Makers consider Dubai as a neutral space where both Indians and Pakistanis can watch this movie. Bachaana released in the UAE theaters today.
