ATC dismisses bail plea of accused in blackmailing case

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday dismissed bail application of an accused involved in harassing lady doctors through social media.

ATC Judge Khawaja Zafar Iqbal heard the application filed by accused Abdul Wahab.

During the hearing, the defence counsel arguing before the court submitted that police had registered a case against the accused under ATA sections on pressure of media despite lack of any solid evidence against him. He pleaded the court to grant benefit of bail to the accused.

However, the prosecution opposed the request and pleaded the court to dismiss the application. He submitted that the accused not only harassed lady doctors and nurses but also extorted money from them. He said that the final challan had been submitted in the court whereas the accused had been indicted as well.

The court after hearing the arguments dismissed the bail application.
