Ajay Jadeja criticizes Shahid Afridi, agree or not?

WEB DESK: Former Indian all-rounder Ajay Jadeja arguably criticised Pakistani T20 skipper Shahid Khan Afridi in a sports show after Pakistan got beaten by five wickets against India.

Ajay Jadeja said, “Shahid Afridi is a one-dimensional player and this is his strength that he never changed his style of playing. Whether the score is 400 for four down or 40 for four down. He will play his style.”

He said on the other hand, Indian captain Mahindera Singh Dhoni was famous for his six hitting ability but he was adaptable and took 40 singles in 40 balls depending on the situation of the match.

“It is wrong to criticize Shahid Afridi after 19 years of career. If someone thinks that he played wrong then he plays like this from the very beginning of his career. Selectors, cricket board and fans selected and accepted him as a captain and they all know his style of playing. So, why criticizing him now when he performed like he always does.”

Jadeja said and if you did not understand him after 19 years then your eyes were opened too late. Shahid Afridi never changed his style of playing and people made him star because of the same reason.

“Shahid’s captaincy also reflects his approach. If any sensible cricketer was there he would have taken a single because one more run could not help the team enough but staying on the wicket would have.”

Ajay Jadeja is in Pakistan these days for Asia Cup Twenty20 programme on PTV Sports. The show is hosted by Dr Nauman Niaz and the guests include former wicket-keeper Rashid Latif and Doosra inventor Saqlain Mushtaq.
