87 flights suspended on third day of PIA protest

ISLAMABAD: With 87 flights suspended Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) still continues to postpone flight operations, Aaj News reported.

The PIA employee’s strike has entered in to its third day. Prime Minister accepted the resignation of Pakistan Airline Chief Nasir Jaffar.

Jaffar has rendered his resignation after two staff members of PIA were killed during a protest against privatization of the national carrier held on Tuesday.

“I take moral responsibility of the deaths,” Jaffer had said.

On Tuesday, as Rangers and police tried to control protesting PIA employees outside the national carrier’s headquarters, two employees were shot dead, and several injured.

Former Punjab-based Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) organiser Punjab Chaudhary Mohammad Sarwar speaking with the media at the Allama Iqbal International Airport on Wednesday made it clear that all opposition parties were united against the privatisation plan.
