WEB DESK: In a statement which shocked many former Pakistan Peoples’ Party stalwart, Zufliqar Mirza welcomed Uzair Baloch home and called him his brother.
“I welcome Uzair Baloch home. He is like my brother,” he said, talking to the media.
“I did not get the PPP in my inheritance. So I left it when I found it had become corrupt,” he said.
Former Home Minister Mirza has been at loggerheads with the PPP especially former President Asif Ali Zardari, after an alleged feud over Mirza’s sugar mills in Badin.
Pakistan Rangers, Sindh announced the arrest of a leader of the Lyari gang war and former chief of proscribed Peoples Amn Committee (PAC), Uzair Baloch, in a targeted operation from the outskirts of Karachi on Saturday.
According to the press release, the arrest was made when Baloch was attempting to enter the city at Jinnah Terminal Airport on Friday morning. It also claims that the leader was in possession of weapon at the time of arrest.
Due to Baloch’s former political affiliations, political pressure is ‘expected’ during the interrogation, Former IG Sindh Afzal Shigri said while talking to Aaj News. He also stressed that the interrogation should be transparent.
