ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan appealed to provinces to reopen schools. “We are giving away to the terrorists,” he said.
Schools all over Punjab have closed down, following security threats by the Taliban. All Army Schools in Karachi have also been shut down till January 31. A convocation planned by Karachi University has also been postponed amid security threats.
The decision came after terrorists attacked the Bacha Khan University killing 21 people including university staff and students and injured 22.
Speaking at a press conference Nisar said that it was not advisable to close school following insignificant threats by terrorists.
He praised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for not closing schools.
