KARACHI: Pakistan’s T20 captain Shahid Afridi has welcomed the return of Mohammad Amir to international cricket. Amir’s selection was his first since he served his ban for spot-fixing during Pakistan’s 2010 tour of England.
Shahid Afridi welcomed him and tweeted on his official account Twitter, “Happy to have Amir back in team”.
Amir has been selected to tour New Zealand this month for three Twenty20 and three one-day internationals. The left-arm bowler who fell from grace in 2010 after admitting to his role in a spot-fixing scandal, returned to the national side after a gap of give years.
However, Amir displayed impressive form in domestic matches as well as in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after ending his five-year ban for spot-fixing three months ago, considered as one of the most promising talents.
