Supreme Council established to lead minus-Altaf MQM


LONDON: Viewing the possible arrest of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain in money laundering case, MQM has today announced establishment of a nine-member Supreme Council during an emergency meeting of MQM’s Rabita Committee in London.

The meeting also decided to appoint Nadeem Nusrat as permanent Convener of Rabita Committee.

Altaf Hussain’s bail is going to end in the first week of February. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of MQM chief to deal with the possible emergency situation.

The Supreme Council will guide the Rabita Committee, party leaders and workers along other citizens in case of non-availability of party head.

The Supreme Council includes Convener Nadeem Nusrat, Senior Deputy Convener Dr Farooq Sattar, Senator Nasreen Jalil, Kanwar Naveed, Rauf Siddiqui, Babar Ghauri, Kishwar Zehra and Iftikhar Hussain Qureshi.

According to the announcement, the decision to continue the struggle for attainment of power for local government and for the establishment of a just system was also made during the meeting.
