This was stressed at an open house of the technical education institutes arranged at the University of Karachi.
An announcement on Friday said that the event was organized by the Faculty of Education, University of Karachi, in collaboration with the Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Teaching (STEVTA).
The Vice Chancellor of University of Karachi, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser, who was the chief guest, while speaking on the occasion said that it will be a new development in the University of Karachi and the program will bring forward technically trained teachers, for teaching in technical training institutes.
He said that in the developed world more emphasis is placed on the technical teaching and learning opportunities rather than academic achievements.
It is now high time and if we need our youth to get jobs and develop skills, we must introduce more and more technical education training programs in the country, he added.
Director STEVTA briefed the participants, who were teachers at Technical Training Institute, about the role and perspective of need for Technical Education in the country.
Dr. Masroor, said that the technical education is the need of the hour and added that the world is growing very fast and if we will not incorporate technology in our teaching programs, we will not be able to enhance abilities of ourstudents to cope up in the modern world.
The Participants included professional, teachers and students from all over Karachi. There was a general consensus that in this era of unemployment, more emphasis should be placed on entrepreneurship, as well as technical education.
Earlier to this program of studies, there were no teachers training opportunities for technical education teachers, but now as the University of Karachi has taken the lead, it will provide opportunity of learning to the student community in the country.
Dr. Shagufta, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, University of Karachi, appreciated the Vice Chancellor, University of Karachi, and Dr. Masroor for organizing the event.
