ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday came hard on political opponents for criticism on implementation of anti-terror National Action Plan (NAP), saying it was being criticized for mere point-scoring.
“We are in state of war which is not only fought with guns but also has a physiological front. Our politicians started criticizing the government and its policies without realizing that we all were doing that our enemies wished for to spread panic,” he replied to a question at an event organized here.
The event was organized at National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Headquarters here to launch passport fee collection service in collaboration with Mobicash. The service has been introduced by National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Directorate General of Immigration and Passport to facilitate applicants.
The minister defended government’s anti-terrorism policies as well as his ministry’s performance and said it was quite astonishing that NAP was being criticized by those who had not even read the document.
Chudhry Nisar criticized Pakistan People’s Party leadership and the Sindh government for `politicking on serious national security issues,’ observing that through such attitude disappointment and despair were being spread.
However, he claimed that effective implementation of NAP has yielded results.
“We have gained success in war against terrorism. Media can observe a visible decline in terrorism incidents that are now rare in Pakistan. We must keep in view the facts that terrorists were on the run and, therefore, targeting soft targets like education institutions,” he noted.
He said some elements were bent upon spreading hopelessness in the society and added “I have decided to put all record before the nation, and in the Senate, as reply for those who are being upon point scoring. We must give impression of unity, strength and victory in this war on terror.”
Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said, “We must fight against atmosphere of fear and terror and must point out those inciting panic among the nation.”
He also vowed to bring all facts and figures regarding implementation of NAP before the nation soon.
Answering a question, Ch Nisar said operation Zarb e Azb was started before National Action Plan.
“Some of us are bent upon criticizing everything since terrorists networks have been broken down, number of terrorism related incidents witnessed decrease as compared to 2008 to 2013, they (terrorists) are on the run and that was why they were striking softest targets,” he said.
