GENEVA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has now reached European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) headquarters in Geneva.
The Director General CERN Fabiola Gianotti welcomed the prime minister upon his arrival.
Pakistan became associate member of the organization on 19th December, 2014. The visit will give an opportunity to Pakistani scientists and students to work at the organization.
Earlier, talking to media in Davos, before leaving for Geneva, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the world leaders held positive opinion about Pakistan because of its progress on economic front.
He said the presence at the World Economic Forum provided him the opportunity to interact with the world political and business leaders and apprise them of Pakistan’s economic successes.
To a question, Nawaz Sharif said his government was pursuing a progressive and forward-looking agenda as per the vision of the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. It was in this context that women were being encouraged to take active part in the country’s progress and development.
He said women had been given reasonable representation in parliament besides other schemes for them. He pointed out that under the Youth Loan Scheme; fifty percent loans were being given to women.
