WEB DESK: Umar Darz lifted an Indian flag from his four story house in Okara without knowing that it will land him 10 years in jail under section 123-A of Pakistan Penal Code and 16 Maintenance of Public Order against him.
The section deals with the acts of damaging the sovereignty of the country, and the maximum punishment is 10 years in jail or fine or both.
He said to the court that he had no idea he had committed a crime, urging the authorities concerned to pardon him as he should be seen as “an Indian cricketer’s fan.”
Kohli scored 91 in the first ODI, 59 in the second, 117 in the third, 106 in the fourth and eight in the fifth match, which led his Pakistani fan to applaud his performance in his own way.
According to a daily newspaper, Umar’s father, Liaquat, sells grate at a bus stand. Umar was known as a quiet person who would hole up in his shop the whole day, watching matches and sewing clothes.
