ISLAMABAD: The cricket lovers around the globe can now take a sigh of relief as they don’t have to wait too much to see the Indo-Pak encounter as both the sides will be face to face in the Asia Cup on February 27.
The Pakistan-India clash will take place in Mirpur, Bangladesh, on February 27 at the Asia Cup, which will be in its new avatar as a Twenty-20 tournament.
The cricket lovers of different cities said they were very excited about the Pak-India encounter and are anxiously waiting to see both the arch rivals on the field.
Ilyas Khan, a college student said India has always shown us a cold shoulder when it comes to having a bilateral series and tournaments like these are the only way we get a chance to see both the nations face to face.
Taimoor Iqbal, a taxi driver said he cannot understand why India doesn’t want to play against us. “We had been cheering when we heard about the Pak-India series was to be held in the UAE last year but against India dumped us and disheartened the fans who were desperately waiting for the series,” he said.
Mehwish Ahmed, a class teacher, said a Pak-India series is bigger than the Ashes and should happen on regular basis. “I request the Indian government to put politics aside and show sportsman spirit,” she said.
Jeffery Masih, a call center employee, said an Indo-Pak encounter is just treated like a public holiday or Eid. “All our cousins and family gather at our home to witness the great giants play each other,” he said.
Symbol Shahbaz, a housewife said my husband doesn’t watch cricket matches that often but when it comes to the Indo-Pak encounter he takes an off from his office to see it.
India last played against Pakistan in the World Cup in Australia last year.Pakistan has won the Asia Cup two times while India and Sri Lanka have won the Asia Cup for five times each.
