WEB DESK: Bilawal Bhutto will keep the existing party set up in central Punjab intact for its reorganisation ahead of next general elections. “Manzoor Wattoo is in Karachi to finalise the party reorganisation strategy with the Chairman. The reorganisation drive will kick start from the April onward,” said the Additional Secretary General Punjab Javed Akhtar.
Until the recent of Bilawal to Lahore, there were strong rumours that the party leadership will replace Wattoo with any other seasoned party leader from Punjab. It was generally understood that the party workers were not happy with the appointment of Wattoo as the party president for central Punjab. “The Chairman Bilawal has given a go-ahead to him now, which has quelled all such rumours,” he added. He said a vast majority of party workers were fully supportive to Wattoo. “They are all looking for party reorganisation drive under his leadership,” he added. Akhtar said Wattoo would start touring the tehsil headquarters soon to hold party conventions, which would be followed by a general house meeting in Lahore.
“We are hopeful that the party would regain its position in Punjab. The party will secure enough seats in Punjab to form a coalition government in next general elections in case we are not able to take majority seats,” he said.He said the party has started receiving calls from many strong candidates in different constituencies for a return and the party workers would hear big announcements in the days to come.
