Big B’s ‘Wazir’ hits screens today

WEB DESK: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Wazir’ will hit screens today (Janaury 8). Directed by Bejoy Nambiar, ‘Wazir’ is an action-packed thriller that also features actor-director Farhan Akhtar in a lead role.

‘Wazir’ has a lot of intriguing factors that includes its interesting story line, the characters and the ensemble star cast.

Amitabh Bachchan plays  a wheelchair bound chess grand master in the movie. It will be interesting to see Big B playing a quite different than usual role on the big screen.

Director Bejoy Nambiar had said it was daunting for him to direct Big B in ‘Wazir’.

“It’s very daunting and intimidating when you work with such a star cast. At no point they made me feel like I am a newcomer or less experienced. I have to forget I am directing Big B and Farhan. I have to do justice to what Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Abhijat have written,” he had said as quoted by Indian Express.

Farhan Akhtar will be playing an ATS officer in the film and this is the first time Farhan will be seen doing hardcore action scenes. From the trailer, the Bhaag Milkha Bhaag actor’s performance looks quite impressive.

‘Wazir’ is about the unusual friendship between a paralysed chess grand master named Pandit Omkarnath Dhar (Amitabh Bachchan) and Danish, played by Farhan Akhtar.

Apart from the suspense and action, the movie also showcases an intense love story and loving chemistry between actress Aditi Rao Hydari and Farhan. Aditi Rao Hydari, who is the youngest of all the star cast, said she was greatful working in the film.

Talking about her chemistry with Farhan, Aditi had said that the love story portion of ‘Wazir’ is a very intimate and very intense and being Farhan’s fan she was happy that she got this opportunity to work with him.

Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who has produced the film and had initially planned to make the film in Hollywood, has been promoting and marketing his film in a slightly different way. He has shown the entire film to nearly 60-70 programmers who distribute films in India.

‘Wazir’ also features Neil Nitin Mukesh in a negative role and John Abraham in a cameo role.
