Secretary of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Khizar Hayat expressed these views in the meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development here on Wednesday.
Chairman Senate Body meeting Baz Muhammad Khan presided over the meeting and Senators including Aurangzeb Khan, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Lt. General (r) Abdul Qayyum, Abdul Rehman Malik, Haji Saif Ullah Khan Bangash, Osman Saif Ullah Khan and high officials of the Ministry attended the meeting.
Khizar Hayat said various steps have already been taken on the special directives of the Federal Minster for the welfare of the overseas Pakistanis while more steps were under process.
The Senate Body also suggested that Ministry should establish training centres for workers, who get the jobs abroad, and ministry must brief them about the culture and rules of the other country, as these people are the ambassadors of the country.
He said that last year over eight lacs workers wore sent to different countries while Senate body have also urged true implementation of the minimum wages Rs. 13,000 for the unskilled workers in the Khyber Pakhtunkhaw.
Senator Rehman Malik criticized the performance of Overseas Pakistanis Foundation and Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment regrading the problems of the expatriates.
Director General Workers Welfare Board of KPK Shehzad Saleem informed the Senate body that from 2007 to 2013 around 3223employees were enrolled in the different departments of the WWB illegally without any approval of the board of governors.
