Another polio case confirmed in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: A new case of polio was confirmed on Saturday. This year 17 cases of polio were reported in the province.

Despite repeated vaccination drives in the country, cases of polio are emerging— the most affected province being Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to details, the virus was confirmed in 18-month-old Ayesha, daughter of Mursaleen. The family lives at Charsadda Road.

Only a month into this year, and 54 cases of polio have been reported in the country.

Anti-polio teams in the past have been attacked by terrorists who feel that the vaccination drive is a conspiracy by the west to spy on them or to render the Muslim generation infertile.

Pakistan remains one of the only three polio endemic countries in the world.
