PESHAWAR: Renowned cricket star and captain of T-20 team Shahid Afridi on Tuesday announced to take 150 students of APS to Dubai for the inaugural ceremony of Pakistan Super League (PSL) on his own expenses.
Talking to media during his visit to Army Public School (APS) here that was attacked by terrorists on December 16, 2014, he said lack of extracurricular activities at school level is alarming that needs to get addressed, adding that he is going to start “Talent Hunt Programme” in the school to support the youngsters.
He urged the local administrations of all the provinces to ensure gaming facilities at schools for better future of the cricket.
He said the PSL will start next month from February 4 among Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators.
Meanwhile, he announced retirement from cricket after the World T-20 to be held in India this March.
He urged his team to raise their game in upcoming international competitions following their 2-1 T- 20 defeat in New Zealand last week. He slammed Ahmad Shahzad and Umar Akmal for their worst performance in New Zealand tour.
Later Shahid Afridi distributed Peshawar Zalmi’s kits among the APS students.
