WEB DESK: The total number of active Apple devices in the world have crossed 1 billion, their quarterly report said.
Apple has shipped more than a billion devices in the past: the company sold its billionth iOS device back in November 2014. But the active number suggest that at least 1 billion devices, ranging from the Apple Watch and Mac, to the iPad and iPhone are in regular use.
“The growth of our services business accelerated during the quarter to produce record results, and our installed base recently crossed a major milestone of one billion active devices,” wrote CEO Tim Cook in a statement.
The company’s “other products” category, which includes the newly revamped Apple TV and the Apple Watch, saw the best growth this past quarter with a 62 percent jump in sales to $4.3 billion.
The iPhone remains the most sold of Apple product. The company sold 74.78 million iPhones in according to the report, by far the largest contributor to its $18.4 billion in profit on sales of $75.9 billion.
However, Apple’s second-quarter forecast spells out a decrease in iPhone sales for the first time.
