WEB DESK: The provincial minister for special education claims that the total number of special people is around two million in the province, including 700,000 teens in his speech in a seminar held in connection with the “International Day of Persons with Disabilities,” here on Tuesday.
“There is a need to rehabilitate them through quality education so that they can grow and act as useful citizens of society,” said minister Asif Saeed Manais.
The minister said that “The welfare of the special people is an important focus of the government. Two hundred and forty-seven special education institutions are working at the tehsil and town levels in the province to help the needy children.
The Punjab government is providing free textbooks, uniforms, transport, a Rs 800 monthly stipend and other facilities to such children to enable them to play an active role as an educated person.” He also said the Punjab Inclusive Education Project has already started in Bahawalpur and Muzaffargarh to identify and rehabilitate these children.
