ISLAMABAD: For arresting members of the civil society for staging a demonstration outside Islamabad’s notorious Lal Masjid, a police officer was served a show cause notice and another was suspended, it appeared on Saturday, Aaj News reported.
On December 16, as the country mourned the Army Public School attack, members of the civil society staged a protest outside Lal Masjid, whose chief cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz did not condemn the attack last year. The demonstrators demanded that the cleric issue an apology.
Following the protest, police had arrested members of the civil society.
After the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar took notice, SP City was served a show cause notice while SHO Aabpara was suspended.
