KARACHI: Unofficial and unconfirmed results of local bodies elections have started coming up in Karachi after ending of polling timing on Saturday, Aaj News reported.
Until now, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is leading in the city according to the results received in different areas. MQM is successful in 33 out of 45 areas.
At least 11 candidates of MQM have been selected unopposed for general councilor seat in district West, while one independent candidate is successful from the region.
Six candidates are successful unopposed in district South: MQM and Pakistan People’s Party got two seats apiece, while one candidate of Jamiat Ulama-e-Pakistan and one independent candidate won the other seats.
At least 18 candidates are elected unopposed in district Central for general councilor all belonged to MQM.
One chairman of PPP elected unopposed from district Malir, while seven general councilors are elected unopposed.
