WEB DESK: To mark International Human Rights Day, the chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik has announced a 30-hour long token protest hunger strike with hundreds of people from all walks of life joining it throughout whole day, Aaj News reported.
Among those who joined this protest hunger strike included the kith and kin of martyrs, lawyers, human rights activists, political leaders of various parties, renowned religious leaders, trade union leaders, intellectuals, students and others.
Malik while talking to media early morning today said that today’s protest hunger strike is being organized to lodge protest against gross human rights violations in Jammu Kashmir and continuous criminal silence of world community and civil society on Kashmir issue.
He said that today whole world is watching that Kashmir is burning but nobody speaks because it may harm their trade and business interests with India.
Kashmir remains stranded between India and Pakistan since 1947. The issue has been a table topic of many political debates but nothing materialized which benefited the people of Kashmir.
Chairman JKLF said that for a long time the basic human rights of Kashmiris are being trampled by India and its stooges.
Yasin Malik said that their religious belief and freedom is also being snatched. “Especially in Jammu, Hindu extremists with the active support of present rulers have turned the lives of Muslims as hell.”
He said that challenging this hypocrisy and double standard of international community is necessary.
