WEB DESK: The Indian prosecutor, Sandeep Shinde, demanded five year jail time for convicted superstar Salman Khan in the hit and run case hearing on Thursday and urged the Mumbai High Court for an unbendable stance.
Shinde and prosecutor, Purnima Kantharia, in their arguments, said that the actor was drunk at the time of the accident and was smelling of alcohol when brought to the hospital for a medical check-up the next day.
It further dismissed the theory that Salman’s driver, Ashok Singh, was driving the car at the time of the accident and that he had lost control of the vehicle after its tyre burst. It argued that the tyre burst only after the car climbed up the stairs of the bakery.
Relying on the testimony of the injured and other circumstantial evidence, the prosecution argued that Salman was behind the wheel at the time of the accident, thus refuting the claim of the defence that there were four persons in the car and Khan was not driving the vehicle.
Khan was convicted for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. He has been sentenced five years imprisonment and is presently out on bail granted by the High Court.
