KARACHI: Election Commission of Pakistan on Wednesday recalled it earlier notifications of December 16 and 17, relating to elections of indirect seats of Councils, Committees and Corporations.
The steps is taken under Article 140(A), of Constitution, Section 71 of Sindh Local Government Act-2013 and all other powers enabling the ECP in that behalf, said a notification issued on Wednesday.
It also announced that the fresh schedule will be notified after finalization of arrangements for administration of oath by the elected members.
In another notification issued on December 23, the ECP has announced to postpone the date of poll that is December 31, mentioned in notifications of even number of December 11 and 14 to the extent of Sanghar and Badin districts.
The decision is taken in pursuance of Article 140 (A) of the Constitution, sub-section (1) of section of 34 of the Sindh Local Government Act, 2013, read with sub-rule (1) of Rule 12 and Rule 12 and Rule 21 of the Sindh Local Councils (Election) Rules 2015.
Spokesman of Sindh Election Commission told APP that the poll is postponed on reserve seats all over Sindh including Sanghar and Badin.
According to notification, the postponement is announced in view of the prevailing law and orders situation in both the districts, communicated by the Government of Sindh.
Fresh date for poll will be fixed after visible improvement in law and order situation in both the districts.
