WEB DESK: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Monday expressed satisfaction over the substantial improvement of security situation in Sindh. A statement released by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that General Raheel Sharif arrived at Corps Headquarters Karachi where he chaired the meeting to review security situation in Karachi and the rest of Sindh.
The meeting was attended by Corps Commander Karachi Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar, Director General ISI Rizwan Akhtar and Director General Rangers (Sindh) Major General Bilal Akbar. In the meeting, army chief lauded the role of army, Rangers, intelligence and other law enforcement agencies for a noticeable improvement in the security situation through ongoing operations.
The COAS also expressed his satisfaction over the performance of law enforcement agencies for maintaining the peaceful environment during the local body elections in Sindh. Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif visited Karachi along with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Their visit was considered as highly important as issue of giving extension to the Rangers’ deployment in Karachi is under discussion. The term of the Rangers’ operation expired on Saturday-Day of 3rd phase of local government elections in Karachi.
