WEB DESK: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif visited Army Aviation School to attend the graduation ceremony of Basic Pilot Course – Serial 56 on Tuesday in Gujranwala.
According to the official ISPR Facebook page, COAS said that Modern Aviation capabilities are critical to the success of ongoing fight against terrorism, as well as thwarting conventional threats to the country. He added that there has been tremendous development in Army Aviation and special efforts are made towards further advancement, not only in domain of combat aviation but in other categories as well, including cargo and smaller aircraft.
COAS appreciated the efforts of Army Aviation School for training competent and dependable pilots and junior staff officers for the Corps of Army Aviation.
Last week, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Flying Officer Marium Mukhtiar became the first female pilot to have died on a mission when a PAF trainer jet crashed near Kundian, Mianwali on Tuesday afternoon.
A PAF FT-7PG flown by Squadron Leader Saqib Abbasi and co-pilot Flying Officer Marium Mukhtiar was on a routine operational training mission when it encountered an in-flight emergency during the final stages of the mission, said a PAF statement.
