KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, has asked Port officials, container terminal operators and oil terminal officials to establish their respective parking lots for overcoming the traffic problems.
He was presiding over a meeting regarding traffic and security issues of Kemari, Dockyard and seaport adjoining area on Friday.
The meeting was also attended by DIG South, DIG Traffic, Commander Port Security Force and other officials. Commander Khalid Mahmood gave a detailed briefing to the participants of the meeting.
Commissioner was of the view that all issues of important and their early solution is required to be found.
He directed that a security committee be formed for the security of port container and oil terminals’ adjoining areas.
The Commissioner said that for the onwards dispatch of the imported goods, the transporters be informed 24 hours in advance so that there be no long queues of trucks and trawlers outside the port areas.
It was stated that a suggestion would be seriously considered for moving the imported goods outside the city from the port through rail system.
