WEB DESK: The Quaid’s mausoleum a prominent landmark of Karachi, which was designed by architect Yahya Merchant and built in the late 1970s.
Constructed on a large area surrounded by trees, it could have been seen anywhere in Karachi before the construction of high rise buildings. A four-tiered crystal chandelier gifted by the People’s Republic of China increase the beauty of white marble mausoleum.
There are also graves of Fatima Jinnah as well as first Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan and his wife Rana Liaquat along with other dignitaries linked to the freedom movement.
In addition to the tombs, you can also see a small museum housing various artifacts used by Jinnah such as cars, dinning sets, bedroom furniture, swords and guns from is private collection etc.
