SHEIKHUPURA: Killing of a youth in an alleged police encounter led enraged heirs to beat the police with boots in Sheikhupura on Saturday.
The family of the deceased said the police constable was demanding Rs2 million in exchange of life of the youth, Zahid.
On arrival of the dead body at the house, cries of the mother and sisters of the deceased made the environment plaintive.
The heirs failed to control themselves on seeing the behavior of the police and started beating them with boots.
The sisters said their father had passed away seven years ago and their uncles had seized their land. A brawl erupted, when they went to take back their right, and their cousin was killed in the meanwhile. Police had arrested Zahid, while the court had acquitted him in this case.
“The police were demanding Rs2 m to release him. When their demand was not fulfilled they took Zahid at Dogra Khanqah and murdered him,” said the sisters.
